HopeHire Browser Extension Privacy

Last updated September 2026.

The HopeHire browser extension is an optional add-on for people who already have a HopeHire account. This page covers what the extension specifically does with your data; for everything else, see HopeHire's main privacy policy.

What it does

  • Reads the HopeHire session cookie on hopehire.in so you do not have to log in a second time inside the extension. It does not read cookies from any other website.
  • Reads the content of job application pages you visit (form fields and their labels) to fill them out using your HopeHire resume and profile. This only happens on pages that look like a job application; the extension is not active on other websites, and page content is never stored or sent anywhere except to HopeHire's own servers when answering a specific form field.
  • Downloads your resume file from your HopeHire account and attaches it to a file-upload field on the application, when it can confidently identify which field that is. The file goes directly from HopeHire to the page you are on; it is not stored anywhere else in between.
  • Sends your resume content and relevant job-application context (including a short excerpt of the job posting itself, when available) to HopeHire's AI provider to generate answers for open-ended application questions and a personalized outreach email. This is the same AI processing already used elsewhere in HopeHire for cold-outreach email generation.
  • With your confirmation after you submit an application, records it (company, job title, application URL, and status) in your HopeHire account, and sends an outreach email on your behalf to a contact at that company using your existing HopeHire outreach settings and credits.

What it does not do

  • Does not collect your general browsing history.
  • Does not run or read page content on websites unrelated to job applications.
  • Does not share data with any third party beyond HopeHire's own backend and AI provider.
  • Never auto-fills or guesses answers to Social Security number, national ID, or demographic self-identification questions (race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, veteran status, disability status, religion). Those are always left for you to answer directly.
  • Never submits an application form for you. You always click submit yourself.

Removing it

You can remove the extension at any time from your browser's extensions page, which stops all of the above immediately. Removing the extension does not affect your HopeHire account or data on hopehire.in itself.
